I guess it is because this kind of "tick off"-able achievement is more common when we are writing exams. Once we stop doing that, any achievement in real world starts seeming slow and incremental and just not worth it. Just doesn't give you the high of cracking a tough paper and beating the crap out of everyone else. You might want to try algorithm contests on topcoder.com. You may have to brush up on your CLR a bit, but for sheer intellectual stimulation, competing with the best in the world and experiencing the exam kind of high, I can't think of anything else. Don't give up hope yet da! There is a lot that you can do. Why can't you spend some time thinking about what you can achieve in the next 3-4 years and start working on that.
