Pertinent Observations

Orchid is an exotic plant.
Vanilla is extracted from orchids. Hence, it should be an exotic smell.
Why, pray why, then do investment bankers think vanilla is not exotic? Even worse, why do they think vanilla is the opposite of exotic?

Bunty, a close friend from school, got married yesterday in Hyderabad. There is a reception in Bangalore on Sunday. Given that he is the first person in our “gang” to get married, we are quite thrilled (and in a way scared). Of course, there is the small matter of a gift.

It is not too hard to notice that the average age of marriage of the middle/upper middle class indian is actually falling. At least it’s lower compared to a generation back.
One reason for that may be that boys nowadays earn “well” quicker. In those days, with mostly government jobs, it took a while for [...]
